DWQA QuestionsI’m needing some advice please. We bought a house 3 years

I’m needing some advice please. We bought a house 3 years ago and the kitchen counter tops were painted a marble look. It was ugly and not well done but we decided to leave it as is until we could just replace them. Well, life and covid has happened and we can’t replace them but they’re peeling off now…the original counter top is showing and it’s formica and all scratched up. What’s an easy and inexpensive way to redo these ugly counter tops? We can’t replace them yet.

I would sand them down and do epoxy over them!

Sand them down, apply new formica over it, sheets are very inexpensive.

To get new formica tops is not very expensive at all – if you are handy and you can cut them to fit and install yourself. Keep the old ones as a cutting pattern. An 8′ piece is around $100 or so. Good Luck.

Contact paper is an easy and cheap way to cover them temporarily. We did that in a house we rented and they lasted over 2 years.

I don’t know what your budget is but the counter tops at Home Depot or Lowe’s are pretty cheap

I’d live with it until the time is right

I would say hey a Formica countertop at HomeDepot or apply contact paper.

I’d at least sand the rest of the paint off. Stretched Formica looks better than peeling paint 🤣😉😉

High gloss floor tile. It’s cheap. Indestructible. And if you can get past the snobs it’s quite beautiful.

Skim coat with concrete! If grey isn’t for you you can buy white ardex concrete on Amazon.

Sheet of Formica and glue it down on top and cut to size with a small router OR couple of boxes of super cheap ceramic tiles and some pre-mix thin set and grout…

Depending on your price range it might be time to check out a local installer to see what they have to offer. Level 1 granite in black can be mixed together out of extra pieces. The business may even offer 0% financing & add in a free sink.
