Hey guys, a day or two ago we could hear some loud banging and some dripping in our fridge/freezer. Now, suddenly, we have a lot of frost over everything! Any ideas on what would cause this?

This only happens to us when the bottom drawer isn’t sealed all the way. It might also be too full?

Mine too. I used to get lots of water in the bottom of mine and it stopped on its own

Tons of stuff can cause this so I’ll ask a couple questions. First check and see if the door feels a lot easier to open, if so the magnetic seal might be shot and warm air is getting inside

My mini fridge was doing this today after I heard a strange sound. Currently defrosting it. The fridge wasn’t cooling anything

Your drain plug nipple should be cleaned first off

Errrm… Loud banging noises = Compressor going out 🙁

Carter Ortiz answered 1 week ago

Loud banging and noises sounds like compressor bearing failing time to replace fridge.. compressor can cost just as much!!!

Thermostat failure, not able to sense the temperature. Replace thermostat.

Periodically modern refrigerators will thaw. Yours is thawing too long which is a sign your condenser is going out.

Is your ice maker connected? We don’t use our ice maker but every once in a while the switch is accidentally turned to on. It makes a lot of loud banging when that happens.

My frig seemed to be stuck on defrost when this happened. Pulled the plug for a few min. to reset. Its been OK since then. Power surge cause a glitch?
