Any electricians ? Replaced outlets in the kitchen and now it’s got a strange issue. Everything works fine and correct until something is plugged in. Once something is plugged into the socket, the neutral becomes hot. Once you try to power something, the lights on the outlet tester turn from two whites to a white and red. HELP !

Looks like you have a neutral going to the hot side in the picture

Could be the wiring is reverse? Black to gold and white to silver.

Are one of the outlets controlled by a switch?

You have a loose neutral somewhere in your boxes.

Could be a loose neutral somewhere. Retrace everything you worked on

Switch neutral and hot. Black always goes to brass and white always goes to chrome or silver terminal.

Your tester shows an open neutral when your tester turns red. The path of electricity can not be completed. The neutral wire is a current carrying conductor as it completes the path of electricity. If it can’t be completed back to ground, your tester will show hot or turn red on your tester. Somewhere on this circuit, your neutral is not tied or connected to the neutral coming from your panel. Check all j boxes or outlets for the problem.

If your neutral goes hot after you plug something in, it’s because you’re not connected to neutral bar / path to ground. Even when energized, the neutral shouldn’t have much potential on it since it’s technically grounded.
